Most countries in the Global South have experienced colonisation, and the experience has left a long shadow that continues to extend to the present. Different countries are at different stages in the decolonisation process – some have gained independence, some have formal treaties between the Indigenous people and the state, and others continue to lack meaningful voice and power.
This session, recorded as part of a Global Greens series in early 2022, compares and contrasts the experiences of different countries with a colonial legacy, and seeks to draw lessons for the Global Greens and countries on defining and securing justice for Indigenous peoples.
FNN Members Dominic WY Kanak & Dr Tjanara Goreng Goreng are joined by Suresh Nautiyal & Mohamed Awad.
